4 Questions
for
Sirid Steingrobe

Head of Design Outerwear Collection

Sirid Steingrobe designs and manages the Outdoor Collection department. Coats and jackets are presented with great attention to detail and are essential in every BASLER collection.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION?

I gather inspiration on our travels to Paris, London, NYC and Milan, for example. Presentations by the German Fashion Institute and the trend researches of WGSN and the Premiere Vision are important inputs for the color concept of our collection. We also receive valuable information and inspiration for the development of the collection from our innovative fabric suppliers.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TRENDS?

O-shape coats, kimono sleeves and double-breasted coats and jackets will remain particularly exciting this season. In a longer version and made of new materials, they will be an absolute highlight in 2019.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE YOU CURRENTLY USING?

Wool cashmere blends are essential for coats. For the ecodown, theme fleece and down segment I have searched and found beautiful new finishes and structures. Material mix with wool – nylon or reversible coats with faux fur/fur and down are the highlights. Materials and silhouettes are luxurious and progressively voluminous but lightweight.

WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT MUST HAVES?

That´s actually very simple: Definitely a high-quality coat, a trendy glen check blazer with culottes, black ankle boots and a cream-colored silk blouse.

WHERE DO YOU HAVE THE BEST DESIGN IDEAS?

Other countries and cultures inspire me. I like to read, listen to music or watch interesting movies. I love art exhibitions and get inspired by colors, shapes and innovations there.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TRENDS?

The BASLER customer loves to wear prints and combines them on different occasions. The print mix is the real novelty. Big and small patterns are combined. The harmony of the colors brings the new print look all together.

WHAT IS YOUR NO-GO?

No-Go´s are a thing of the past… Today, every woman should dress the way it makes her feel good. The most important factor is charisma and certain aesthetics.

WHAT IS A MUST-HAVE IN EVERY WARDROBE?

I think the female silhouette should be showcased and we can skilfully stage our feminine side. That is why I personally am a fan of beautiful, high quality dresses and feminine blazers.
